We got the chance to speak with Matthew Higby, Design Supervisor, about the upcoming EverQuest II add-on, The Fallen Dynasty. This downloadable pack is available now, let's find out what it is all about!Everquest II has been doing very well since its release. The Kingdom Of Sky expansion which was released three months ago seems to have been well received by players, and without a moments rest, SOE is poised to release not one but two EQ2 expansions by the end of the year. The first of which is the Fallen Dynasty adventure pack. Firstly, will this downloadable content cost anything this time around? Matt Higby: The Fallen Dynasty will be available for download for $7.99. For players that have subscribed to Station Access for two months or more, the download is free. Station Access is our monthly subscription service ($24.99/month) that gives players access to all SOE games. Can you tell us exactly what new zones will be included with this pack? MH: The major zones are; “The Village of Shin,” a peaceful village which serves as a quest hub and staging area, “The Mystic Lake,” an overland adventure zone, much like Antonica or Commonlands, but geared to level 50+ players, and “The Forsaken City” a high level dungeon zone. There are also many instanced adventure areas. Can you tell us a bit about what exactly the “Asian” influences are that lead to the “Asian” theme in this pack? MH: The primary Asian influence would have to be the joint development with our Taiwanese partner studio, Soga. Soga was responsible for creating the art and art style for this adventure pack, and as such it has a distinctive eastern feel. Lore wise, we wanted to go with this style to have an island that felt distinct and foreign for our primary protagonists, The Whistling Fist Monks, to live in solitude on. According to the information, this pack includes new quests and content for high-level players. What exactly is planned, and how will the higher and max level players be able to take advantage of it? MH: The entire adventure pack is geared towards players level 55-70, we’re adding several raids that target level 70 players, and new challenging dungeons for groups, as well as solo content for those players who prefer that type of content. All of the content we’ve created has been tailored to challenge and push the envelope of what players are capable of achieving on the “high end” of EverQuest II. |
