This past Tuesday, January 16, months of anticipation came to fruition for devoted World of Warcraft players around the world - especially for the ones waiting in line at The Burning Crusade midnight-opening events. At the stroke of midnight, thousands of dedicated soldiers of the Horde and Alliance - as prepared as ever - were finally able to acquire their copy of World of Warcraft's first expansion. Not that this should come as a surprise to anyone, but WoW: The Burning Crusade is breaking all kinds of sales records. Over 1.2 million copies were sold on day 1 alone, with 4 million expected within the week, if it has not hit that mark already. Click read more for the full press info.

PARIS, France -- Blizzard Entertainment® today announced that World of Warcraft®: The Burning Crusade™ has broken the day-one sales record to become the fastest-selling PC game ever in North America and Europe, with a worldwide total of nearly 2.4 million copies sold in the first 24 hours of availability. The Burning Crusade, the first expansion set for World of Warcraft, was simultaneously released in North America, Europe, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia on 16 January, and on 17 January in Australia and New Zealand.

WoW Vault has some new guides up to help players make the most out of their adventures in the Burning Crusade. Their latest addition, just in time for the release, is The Burning Crusade Starter Guide and Quick FAQ written by Mithan. Those of you who recently purchased the expansion, check it out.

WarCry recently interviewed Community Manager, Nick Parkinson about beta and issues surrounding the release of Vanguard. Read the yourself, it has some great info.

Over at FiringSquad today is this World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Q&A, probably the last we will see before release. They speak with designer Jeff Kaplan about the development and production, the new gameplay elements, the new mobs, future update plans for the game (not much given), and what it takes to support a game that .01% of the world's population subscribes to.

Blizzard game designer Jonathan LeCraft spoke with Pro-G about the growing rumor murmur of World Of Warcraft heading to a home console. He says that it just isnt likely, sorry console folks. What he does go on to say though is that MMOs based on StarCraft and Diablo are "not a problem." You can decide for yourself what this means.
