Eve Online Trinity, the latest expansion for the sci-fi MMO from CCP Games, will be available starting the first week of December. The patch will conatin, among other things, a huge graphical overhaul for the game, and over 500 ships have been added or completely re-drawn from scratch. The expansion is free, as are all Eve Online expansions.

There has been a huge scandal brewing over at the EVE Online official site. It is long and complicated, but basically, developers who played the game revealed themselves to be developers, and illicitly helped their friends within the game. You can get the entire story by reading the thread, but suffice to say, it is bad.

Shanghai, China – June 13, 2006 – The first day of EVE Online’s open Beta in China resulted in a new world record for the number of simultaneous users playing in the same game world, as more than 30,000 users logged into the game server just hours after opening. CCP Games, an independent producer of massively multiplayer online games and producer of EVE Online, also announced that over 200,000 players from China registered for the game during the first day of the of the open Beta.

Electronic Entertainment Expo, Los Angeles, CA - May 10, 2006 - CCP Games and Vivox today announced that subscribers of the massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) EVE Online will soon have real-time, in-game voice communication as the result of a technology integration agreement between the two companies. Vivox will provide CCP with game-embedded voice communication services customized for and integrated into EVE.

Apparently the outages in Eve Online are still baffling the staff. The severe downtimes which have been plaguing the game recently seem to defy explanation. More info when we have it.

Noah C. Ward, designer of the next EVE expansion, spoke with MMORPG.com at the recent GDC event. He let them in on a few secrets from this popular Icelandic MMORPG. Topics include the faction system planned for Kali, the current subscriber numbers, and a planned graphic overhaul.
