SOE has announced that the Planetside forums will be transitioning to an internally-hosted software on August 1st. In order to help facilitate this change, please read the post at the link for all the pertinent info.

From Wednesday, June 14, 2006, (12:01 am, US Pacific Time) through Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at (11:59 pm, US Pacific Time), PlanetSide’s “Planetary Moviemaker: Infantry Invasion” Contest will be taking place. Using in game footage, music from in game, and their special skills, PlanetSide community moviemakers now have the opportunity to show off their skills. SOE has posted word that the Planetside Markov server may be having some login troubles. If you are experiencing extended login times for the server, be patient, they are aware of the issue and are working on the problem.

Planetside, the SOE sci-fi MMO is officially three years old. May 19, 2006 marked beginning of the game's fourth year in the MMO world. Congrats!

SOE has posted word that there will be scheduled downtime of the Planetside MMO on April 18, 2006, at 3:00 am US Pacific Time (4 am MDT, 5 am CDT, 6 am EDT, 11 am UK, -7 UTC) The estimated downtime is approx 1 hour.

According to this forum post, the martial law status that has been imposed on the world-goers of Planetside will be lifted sometime within the next 18 hours. Apparently, the Core Scientist Council has determined that the core is no longer in danger.
