SOE has already begun revamping the Vanguard SOH website. Now, there will be a feature news section everyday on VGplayers that will feature a player from Vanguard. Get the information at the link.

SOE has made a change in Vanguard SOH, one of the first since they took over Sigil, actually. Players will now be able to rent flying mounts, instead of only being able to buy them. Check the link for the details.

Well, it is official folks. SOE has indeed acquired Sigil games, the makers of Vanguard Saga Of Heroes. The official press release is below, we wish those who got laid off the best of luck!

May 15, 2007 San Diego, CA – Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE), a global leader in the online games industry, today announced that it has completed a transaction to purchase key assets of Sigil Games Online, Inc. Through the deal, SOE now owns Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, Sigil’s tentpole property, a highly-successful massively multiplayer online game. The Sigil acquisition also builds on SOE’s successful strategy of cultivating game development studios around the world to further boost the company’s capabilities. The announcement was made by John Smedley, President, Sony Online Entertainment.

Apparently, Sigil games, creators of the MMORPG Vanguard Saga Of Heroes, is no more. The game, which is now owned by SOE, has been struggling lately, and it has not even been ohn the market for 6 months. Well, it seems that SOE has decide to cut their losses early and dropped the axe. All employeed were called outside yesterday and apparently terminated on the spot. What a shame. Rumor mill for now though until we can confirm this, and also, no word on exaclty what is going on with the game, if it will last or not is anyone's guess. Our feeling at GR is that the game will get a total revamp to make it much more player-friendly. As it stands now, since Vanguard was created by the former EQ guys, the game is a very hardcore MMO. Well, as we all know, SOE is only has room for one hardcore MMO, and that's EQ/EQ2. Time will tell.

We are now accepting applications from guilds to focus test raids and the raiding system for Vanguard. Selections will be made at Sigil's discretion. Applications will be accepted from guild leaders only; multiple applications for the same guild may result in removal from the selection process.
