The Lord of The Rings Online: Shadows Of Angmar is one of the most talked about MMORPG games in recent history. Capitalizing on the buzz that the recent movie trilogy created, Turbine decided to turn out an online PC title to capture gamers’ interest. The game, it turns out, is being received very well, so let’s see what it is all about. We will start with the race/class breakdown.

First there’s the Hobbits, your basic thief class. Their traits are best for a rogue type character or something equivalent to a bard. They don’t do much damage, they don’t have much defense, but they do the odd jobs of the party. They pull either pull the mobs, or buff characters.

Next you’ve got your human characters, the Race of Man. Humans, as with every MMO are your middle of the road character They can be a mage, they can be a thief, they can be a warrior, no matter where you put them they’re going to perform, but do not necessarily have any one class they should be put in. Most players on the server seemed to have humans as a warrior class.

Third, your elves, this is your ranged/finesse melee class. They are best suited for hunters, as the movie dictates, or they can be champions, your finesse melee class. This race is pretty much built to be only these two classes, but you can custom roll, or adjust them to your liking if you really feel the need to have them be something else. Their inate racial abilities make them ideal for a hunter though.

Finally you have the dwarves. This is your tank. They can either be guardians, or guardians. Anything else is pretty much a waste of skill points and race traits. They do decent damage in their class, and are ideal to be put in front of a mob and take the hits while a support class buffs and heals on them. They hold the hate well, and have enough HP to last through even the most difficult fights. Not to mention they come stock with heavy armor proficiency.
